Supporters Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a person who breached a barricade and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A viral video shows the Australian man shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway surrounded by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was due to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another response on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised security officers at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others demanded online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips shared widely, Grande seemed startled when she was touched by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of attendees had gathered in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, securing a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
