Renowned Star Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.
Stateside performer Finn, who featured in popular programs such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a statement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
