President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Members to White House
President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Devastating Event
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.
Presidential Call
The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.
Honoring the Soldier
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”
Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments
Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The event caused the administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop providing entry permits to holders of travel documents.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
