Lawmakers Release Latest Collection of Epstein Photos as DOJ Deadline Nears

The House Oversight Committee has published a collection of approximately 70 images from the estate of late adjudicated sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.

This marks the latest in a series of publication from a tranche of in excess of 95,000 photographs the panel has secured from Epstein's holdings. It contains pictures of excerpts from the novel Lolita written across a female's body, and redacted pictures of female overseas passports.

This release comes just hours before the 19th of December deadline for the DOJ to make public all files connected to its investigation into Epstein.

"These photographs pose additional queries about exactly what the Justice Department has in its custody," remarked the senior Democrat of the committee, Robert Garcia.

Contents in the Photographs Disclosed

Several of the images published on this week show Epstein in discussion with professor and activist Noam Chomsky on a personal aircraft; Bill Gates positioned beside a woman whose features is obscured; Steve Bannon seated at a table opposite Epstein, and ex- Alphabet president Sergey Brin at a dinner gathering.

These are the most recent affluent, influential figures to be photographed in Epstein's estate images released by the oversight panel - previously disclosed images also include US President Donald Trump and ex-president Bill Clinton, as well as movie director Woody Allen, ex- US Secretary of the Treasury Larry Summers, attorney Alan Dershowitz, Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor, and additional individuals.

Being pictured in the photos is not indication of any misconduct, and several of the photographed individuals have asserted they were not involved in Epstein's illegal activity.

In a statement issued alongside the photograph release, Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee noted the Epstein estate did not offer explanatory details or dates for the photographs.

"Images were chosen to furnish the American people with openness into a representative sample of the images acquired from the holdings, and to give insights into Epstein's associates and his extremely alarming activities," the release says.

The publication also includes several photographs of excerpts from the Vladimir Nabokov literary work Lolita written in ink across various areas of a female's body, like her upper body, foot, pelvis, and rear. Lolita recounts the tale of a adolescent who was groomed by a older literature professor.

A particular quote from the novel inscribed across a woman's torso reads, "Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the mouth to alight, at three, on the teeth".

There are also a collection of images of women's passports and ID papers from states globally, such as Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

Most of the information on the papers, like identities and DOBs, is obscured but the panel indicated in a statement that the travel documents are associated with "women whom Jeffrey Epstein and his conspirators were engaging".

A further photo shows Epstein seated at a workstation closely in the company of three individuals whose features have been redacted - one has her palm on Epstein's torso under his shirt, and another is bending to look at a nearby computer. Epstein seems to be aiding the third individual put on a piece of jewelry.

Another image released is a capture of digital messages from an unknown individual who states they have been sent "some girls" and are asking for "$1000 for each individual".

Photograph Disclosure Arrives Ahead of DOJ Due Date

The body has a vast number of photos in its custody from the Epstein estate, which are "both disturbing and ordinary," its announcement on this week noted.

The Congressional committee first issued a subpoena to the holdings of Epstein, who died in a New York correctional facility in 2019 while facing trial on accusations of sex trafficking, in August.

The photographs and files the Epstein property submitted to the panel are separate from what is largely termed "the Epstein documents". Those are papers under the justice department's custody related to its separate probe into Epstein.

Pursuant to the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which the President enacted in November, the DOJ has until 19 December to disclose its records. The full nature of the contents included in the DOJ's documents is unclear, and it's expected that a significant portion of the material will be heavily redacted, similar to House Oversight Committee materials
