Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
