How these Broncos together with their 'play-dough' QB can halt that Chiefs' reign.

NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , after last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests was the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this Sunday.
However it was good to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.
Denver boast the top defender with CB their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They had the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers but they might position two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
Early on in the campaign, we said during a show that Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
New TE their tight end has excelled big while recent RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows that the Broncos are a team that wants to run first, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in favourable situations.
It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass all over, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he's highly agile.
His assets are his movement, being able to throw on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack whenever possible and can pass in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he wants to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton owns a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. In my opinion the success Denver are having on offence is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and boost confidence.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a solid position to be in their division. All they need is to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their strength, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they should do against the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising when you think that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.
This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
