Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
