Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to its rightful place, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
